Dr. Harvey Abrams grew up in New York City. He studied medicine at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, graduating in 1975. Upon completion of his internship in Internal Medicine and his residencies in Neurology and Psychiatry he joined the full-time academic teaching faculty at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Abrams went on to complete a three year residency in Dermatology in 1989 at which time he moved to Los Angeles to start a full-time private practice.
He is widely recognized as one of the world's leading experts in liposuction surgery and cosmetic surgery. He is the leading expert on cosmetic, surgical approaches to HIV lipodystrophy and has published numerous articles and chapters in prestigious medical journals and texts.
Dr. Abrams has been a guest on the Leeza Gibons' Show demonstrating anti-aging cosmetic procedures, featured as the "Lipo Lieutenant" on Hard Copy in their expose on male liposuction, on the Vicki Lawrence show as one of "Los Angeles' Top Dermatologists, and on "Soap Talk" discussing cosmetic procedures in Hollywood. He is also a contributing writer for magazines like Ms. Fitness, Being Alive, IN Los Angeles, and La Brea Living.
