Dr. Zanelli received his Doctor of Medicine degree with high honors from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology. In addition to being a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and the National Board of Medical Examiners, Dr. Zanelli is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. In addition to being recognized as an outstanding medical dermatologist, he specializes in aesthetic dermatology and dermatologic procedures. He holds a teaching appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco where his activities include teaching diagnosis and treatment of skin disease to residents and medical students.
Dr. Zanelli completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and remained there for a year's Fellowship work in Melanoma patient care and clinical research. He then returned to Philadelphia and completed his Residency in Dermatology at Thomas Jefferson University, where he was Chief Resident. Dr. Zanelli has presented clinical research work at meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology, performed live patient demonstrations at the San Francisco Dermatologic Society meetings, and has authored a book chapter on the dermatologic manifestations of mycobacterial infections. He organized and participated in the first trials of laser treatment for Kaposi's Sarcoma, and this work was subsequently published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has been in group and solo practice in San Francisco since 1995, where his patients include many prominent politicians, musicians, and entertainers. He is now very happy to return to Los Angeles to join Wilshire Aesthetics.
Before attending Medical School Dr. Zanelli received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in music at USC, specifically piano performance, and studied with some of the great master teachers, and his recital work as a Concert Pianist has taken him from Carnegie Hall to the opening ceremonies of the XXIIIrd Olympics at Los Angeles. Outside of work his activities include working out, working on the house and garden, going to concerts and museums, and travel when time allows, especially to Italy and the Middle East.
